I am a 30 year old female who was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy at age 26. I am not a diabetic nor do I suffer from the degenerative nature of this disease. I developed peripheral neuropathy as a direct result of taking Flagyl (Metronidazole) for an infection of Clostridium Difficile. The CDC prescribed this drug for a lengthy period of time. Normally the drug is prescribed for a 7-10 day period. When I was told to take Flagyl for 30 days I'd already been taking it for 2 weeks. I was not told about the contraindications and what to look for, namely burning and tingling in my extremities. For more information, read my case study.
