I am a 30 year old female who was diagnosed with Scoliosis at age 15. I have an "S"-shaped curve in my spine. The upper curve bends to the right side of my body in the thoracic spine and the lower curve bends partly to the left side by also partly to the posterior (or rear) of my body. My 2 curves were at 36 degrees, for the upper one, and 18 degrees for the lower curve.

I wore a back brace for nearly 2 years since my body was still growing when the doctor discovered the scoliosis. It helped temporarily and even corrected the curvatures slightly. Unfortunately though, the disease progressed and the curvatures increased to 54 degrees and 32 degrees. I had surgery to install Cotrel-Dubousset rods in my thoracic spine.
